Mamata Banerjee to announce candidates' list for upcoming Lok Sabha polls from Brigade rally
Kolkata/IBNS: In a surprise move, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is all set to declare the candidates' names for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election from her mega rally at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata.
This is the first time Banerjee will name the candidates for all 42 Lok Sabha seats from a rally instead of doing so from her office at Kalighat.
The Trinamool Congress is leaving no stone unturned to make the rally a grand success with the construction of cross-shaped ramps at Brigade Parade Ground instead of conventional dias so that the speakers, mainly Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, can walk closer to a section of the crowd.
The rally will see three main stages connected which will seat 600 leaders segregated in the different sections.
The main stage is 72 feet wide and 20 feet long while the platform has been built at a height of 12 feet from the ground.
The rally, christened 'Jana Garjan Sabha' will focus on the theme of alleged withholding of the state's financial dues by the Centre, a contentious issue that has been dominating the state politics for the past two years.
The mega rally is expected to be attended by people in huge numbers.
Mamata and Abhishek Banerjee will be the key speakers during the event.
Ahead of the rally, TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee visited the Brigade Ground on Saturday to review the preparations.
Shri @abhishekaitc's charismatic presence at Brigade Ground elevated the spirits of all gathered.
