Narendra Modi guarantees India will become third third-largest economy if voted to power for another term
Indian PM Narendra Modi on Monday said India will become the third largest economy in the world if his government is voted to power in the next Lok Sabha polls.
"It is Modi's guarantee that India will become the third largest economy in the world in our third term," he said in his last Parliament address ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Launching a scathing attack on the Congress-led previous government, Modi said: "In 2014, when the interim budget was presented, then Finance Minister said that India was the 11th largest economy in terms of GDP, and it was a matter of pride. He further said that India would be the third-largest economy in the next three decades. It means that they expected India to become economy third largest by 2044. This was their vision."
In his reply to the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address, Narendra Modi targeted the Congress and the INDIA bloc and said: "I can see many people in the opposition have lost hope and the willpower to fight elections."
Targeting the Congress, he said dynasty politics is harmful to Indian democracy.
Pitching his government and its performance in its two terms, Modi said his ruling BJP will win 370 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
"In the upcoming polls, the BJP will bag 370 seats while the NDA will win 400 seats," he said.
