Nicaragua becomes first Spanish-speaking nation to recognise India's Pharmacopeia
The Government of India and Nicaragua signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) on Pharmacopoeia on Cooperation in the field of the regulation of medicines.
"The MoU was signed by Ambassador of India to Nicaragua Dr. Sumit Seth & Minister of Health of Nicaragua Dr. Martha Reyes," read a post on India in Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica X page.
With this signing, Nicaragua has become the First Country in Spanish speaking world to recognise Indian Pharmacopeia.

The Govt. of India have created a separate, dedicated, autonomous institutionin the form of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) to deal with matters relating to timely publication of the Indian Pharmacopoeia which is the official book of standards for drug included therein, in terms of the Second Schedule to the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 so as to specify the standards of identify, purity and strength of the drugs imported, manufactured for sale, stocked or exhibited for sale or distributed in India.
