New Delhi/IBNS: The Delhi Police Friday filed an action taken report (ATR) before a Delhi court based on a plea seeking an FIR against protesting wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshee Malikkh for allegedly making “false allegations” against BJP MP and Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

In its report, the Delhi Police said that the complainant had alleged that the wrestlers raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Jantar Mantar and said the same fell under the category of hate speech.

“…it is evident that they threatened to kill the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India,” the complainant said.

The plea also accused the wrestlers of making false allegations against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

As per direction from the court,  the Delhi Police submitted the action taken report (ATR) before the court and a video provided by the complainant.

However, the wrestlers are not seen raising slogans in the video and no offence of hate speech could be made out.

“From the contents of the complaint and video clip provided by the complainant no cognizable offence of hate speech is made out. The protester wrestlers Sh. Bajrang Punia, Ms. Vinesh Phogat, and other wrestlers are not seen raising any such slogan in this clip,” the Delhi Police said in its report.

The police requested the court to dismiss the application following which the court now adjourned the matter for further hearing on July 7.

The plea was filed on behalf of one Bam Bam Maharaj Nauhatiya, who claimed to be the national chief of ‘Atal Jan Party’.
