Office romance turns deadly! Agra woman found dismembered by her colleague

The victim, identified as Minky Sharma, a resident of Tedhi Bagiya in Agra, was reported missing on January 23.

Parts of her body were later found inside a gunny bag near Jawahar Bridge in the early hours of January 24.

The accused, Vinay Singh (30), a computer operator at the same company, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.

According to Agra police, locals alerted authorities after spotting a suspicious gunny bag on Jawahar Bridge around 1 am on January 24. On inspection, police discovered the body of a woman, following which efforts were launched to establish her identity.

Police said the victim’s face was missing, and teams are continuing efforts to recover the remaining body parts.

Minky had left her home around 2 pm on January 23, telling her family she was going to her office in Sanjay Place, where she worked as an HR manager. When she did not return by evening and her phone remained switched off, her family began searching for her.

A missing persons complaint was subsequently registered at the Trans Yamuna police station.

During the investigation, police found that Minky and Vinay had been in a relationship for over two years.

According to officials, Vinay allegedly grew suspicious after learning that she had been in contact with another man for the past six months.

“Frequent arguments followed. Vinay wanted to marry Minky, but she had refused,” said DCP (City) Sayed Ali Abbas. During interrogation, Vinay allegedly confessed to killing her following an argument at the office, NDTV reported.

The police constituted five teams to investigate the murder. CCTV footage showed a man dragging a gunny bag out of an office building and later riding a scooter towards Jawahar Bridge. Cameras on MG Road and the highway also captured the suspect travelling on the victim’s scooter.

Using the missing complaint, office records, and CCTV visuals from areas including Maruti Plaza, police identified Vinay Singh as the suspect.

According to police, Vinay had called Minky to the office on January 23. After an argument, he attacked her with a knife, causing fatal injuries. He then allegedly dismembered the body, packed it in plastic, sealed it with tape, and transported it on her scooter to Jawahar Bridge.

He reportedly intended to dispose of the body in the Yamuna but abandoned the bag near the bridge after being unable to lift it and noticing passersby. Police said he later disposed of other evidence near a drain and left the scooter at a secluded location.

An FIR has been registered at the Trans Yamuna police station under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (destruction of evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act.

Police have recovered the scooter, the knife allegedly used in the crime, and the victim’s clothes. Further investigation is ongoing.
