Opposition RJD members create ruckus in Bihar Assembly over an increase of exgratia amount
The opposition RJD members created a ruckus in Bihar assembly on Wednesday in support of the demand to increase the exgratia amount to Rs 4 lakh in case of accidental death of labourers outside the state.
Intervening during the reply by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha to a starred question of Vinay Bihari, the opposition members said that the exgratia amount in case of death of the labourers outside the state in an accident was insufficient and should be increased up to Rs 4 lakh.
Through his starred question Vinay Bihari had demanded to increase in the compensation amount saying that in case of death of the labourers within the state, the exgratia amount was Rs 4,00,000 whereas for those who lost their lives outside the state was given only Rs 2,00,000 as an exgratia.
In support of his demand, Bihari also tried to draw the attention of the house towards the plight of the widow of the labourers.
In reply to the question, Sinha said that the state government was sensitive towards the issue and the NDA government had increased the exgratia amount to Rs 2,00,000 from Rs 1,00,000 in case of death of labours outside the state.
He further said that in case of accidental death of the labourers outside the state the labour resources department was providing Rs 2 lakh exgratia to the widow of the deceased whereas the disaster management department provides Rs 4,00,000 and a total of Rs 6 lakh was being provided to the widow of the deceased labour.
Terming the reply of the Minister as confusing, the opposition members said that the exgratia amount was not being provided as per the statement of the Minister.
Shouting slogans against the government, the opposition members trooped to the well of the house.
Intervening, Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav asked the government to examine the matter and clear the confusion on it. The Minister assured to examine the issue.
However, the opposition members continued to create ruckus at the well of the house. After the Chair requested them, they resumed their seats.
