Indian envoy to Bangladesh Pranay Verma has said the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir shook the conscience of the country.

“These killings have shaken our collective conscience," Verma was quoted as saying by ANI.

"But they have only made our resolve stronger to fight the scourge of cross-border terrorism to its end," he said.

"It has made our determination firmer never to allow the perpetrators of these attacks and their backers to ever succeed in their designs," Verma said while attending an event remembering those killed in the Pahalgam terror attack in the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

High Commissioner Pranay Verma was joined by the Ambassador of Nepal in Bangladesh, Ghanshyam Bhandari, in paying tributes to the victims, reported ANI.

Pahalgam Attack

Twenty-six people, including 23 Hindu male tourists, were killed by terrorists in Baisaran meadows, a popular destination in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, on April 22.

The terrorists- belonging to The Resistance Front (TRF), which is an offshoot of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)- asked the victims to chant Islamic verses (kalma) and made them pull down their pants to be sure of their their non-Muslim religious identities (read circumcision)  before gunning them down before their families, including wives, children and daughters.
