Puri police detain nine non-Hindus after they enter Jagannath temple
Puri Simhadwar police on Sunday detained nine non-Hindu persons who allegedly entered Sri Jagannath temple in this pilgrim town of Odisha.
According to reports five persons belonging to Bangladesh were detected by some servitors while having darshan of the deities.
The servitors questioned them about their religious status and they learned that while one is Hindu the others were non-Hindus.The servitors brought them to the police station and reported the incident.
The Police are interrogating them and the CCTV footage is being examined to see if there were others. These four non Hindus not only had darshan of the deities they also bought mahaprasad.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
Additional superintendent of police Susil Kumar Mishra told media persons that their passports and other travel documents were being examined and their hotel entry register will be examined.
Puri residents are surprised that despite elaborate security how these non-Hindus entered the shrine which debarred the non-Hindus from entering the temple.
