Rahul Gandhi to begin Bharat Nyay Yatra from violence-hit Manipur in Jan 2024

Dec 27, 2023..

New Delhi/IBNS: Congress top leader Rahul Gandhi will begin Bharat Nayay Yatra, which is dubbed as the second part of his mass outreach campaign Bharat Jodo Yatra, from violence-hit Manipur in January.

The yatra, where Rahul will be walking with his party supporters, will begin on January 14.

Covering 6,200 kilometers across 14 states and 85 districts, the yatra will conclude in Mumbai on March 20.

Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra will be among the states that will be covered by Rahul, a Lok Sabha MP from Kerala's Wayanad.

The yatra, which the party claims will aim to bring social, economic and political justice for people, will reportedly be flagged off by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

The yatra comes months ahead of the next General Elections, which are expected to be held in 2024 summer, and in the backdrop of Congress' wipe out from the Hindi heartland comprising Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh in early December.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra, which was driven by Rahul, was credited to Congress' wins in Karnataka and Telangana, the two south Indian states.

The beginning of the yatra from Manipur is significant as the northeastern state was reeling under the ethnic violence which started in May this year.

Taking a dig at the yatra, BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli told ANI, "On Bharat Nyay Yatra, BJP leader Nalin Kohli says, "The date of January 15 or around it perhaps may be suiting the fact that Rahul Gandhi might be on one of his international travels or vacation and after that wants to make his presence felt.

The fact of the matter is what is Nyay? In this country, Nyay or justice has been happening after 80 crore people have been getting ration from PM Modi's government for the last many years..."

"Nyay is what you do and not what you create as a slogan," he added.
