West Bengal: IT officials raid TMC MLA's houses in Murshidabad
Murshidabad/UNI: The Income Tax Department raided the house of TMC MLA Bayron Biswas at Shamsherganj in West Bengal's Murshidabad district on Wednesday, official sources said.
The Central IT sleuths, along with the Central armed forces, raided the residence of the ruling lawmaker in Dhulian early on Wednesday in relation to the alleged tax-related issues, they added.
The residence belonged to the MLA's father, Babar Ali Biswas, who is also a renowned Bidi factory owner, where the politician stays, sources confirmed.
Bayron Biswas, who won the by-poll with the Congress ticket, supported by the Left Front, switched over to the ruling party.
Sources said the IT officials also searched the locations of MLA's bunglow and other family business interests, including tea factory, and hospital in the district.
The lawmaker house in Birbhum district was also under investigation, and search operations were ongoing when this report came.
