‘Will take half the world down’: Asim Munir warns India of nuclear attack from US soil amid Trump’s claim of ending India-Pakistan conflict

Washington DC: Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir has once again issued a dire warning to India, declaring that Islamabad would not hesitate to plunge the region into nuclear conflict if the country faces an existential threat in a future war with New Delhi.

“We are a nuclear nation; if we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us,” Munir reportedly said at a black-tie event in Tampa, Florida, during his second US visit in two months, according to The Print.

This is the first instance of nuclear threats issued by Pakistan from US soil against a third country.

Interestingly, this comes amid US President Donald Trumps repeated claims that he made India and Pakistan agree on a ‘a "full and immediate" ceasefire.

“You take a look at what's happened just over the last little while. We've settled a lot of, a lot of very beautiful wars have been settled… One of the wars India, Pakistan, nuclear,” Trump said recently.

“I settled that up. And I settled it up with trade. I settled a lot of them with trade. I said ‘listen, you guys are going to fight. You can fight all you want. I mean, just fight your hearts out. But we're not doing a trade deal'.

“All of a sudden they end up not doing a war. I settled a lot of wars. I think I settled averaging about a war a month. But, you know, we're saving millions of lives,” he said.

Recently White House went on to demand Nobel Peace Prize for Trump stating: Trump has “now ended conflicts between Thailand and Cambodia, Israel and Iran, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India and Pakistan, Serbia and Kosovo and Egypt and Ethiopia.”

‘Will fire 10 missiles’: Frustrated Munir spits venom against India over suspension of Indus Waters Treaty

Amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions, Munir made no efforts to Hide Pakistan’s blood and vicious intentions as he revisited the Indus Waters Treaty dispute, suspended by New Delhi after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

Accusing India of putting 250 million people at risk of starvation, he threatened to destroy Indian dams with missiles once constructed.

“We will wait for India to build a dam, and when it does so, phir 10 missile sey faarigh kar dengey (we will destroy it with 10 missiles). The Indus river is not the Indians’ family property. Humein missilon ki kami nahin hai, (we have no shortage of missiles),” he reportedly said.

High-level US military officials meet Munir

Munir is on his second visit to the United States in under two months to meet senior American military leaders.

He held talks with US Joint Chiefs of Staff General John Dan Caine, inviting him to visit Pakistan.

The Pakistan military said the discussions covered “matters of mutual professional interest.”
During this trip, Munir was also hosted for a private lunch at the White House by US President Donald Trump.

Background: escalating tensions

Munir has repeatedly accused India—without presenting evidence—of escalating tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack.

Following the incident, India downgraded diplomatic ties with Pakistan, suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, reduced Islamabad’s mission strength, and expelled its military attachés.

The two countries exchanged hostilities for four days after India launched Operation Sindoor, striking multiple air bases and significantly weakening Pakistan’s military capabilities, while repelling missile and drone attacks.

Despite these developments, Munir accused India of “unprovoked aggression” and lacking “strategic foresight”, pledging a decisive response to any future confrontation.
