Quoting a media report on X, Gandhi took a sarcastic jibe at the Prime Minister, writing: "PM Modi also personally supervised the NEET paper leak."

The comment comes amid mounting criticism of the government and the National Testing Agency (NTA) over the handling of the examination.

Exam Cancelled After 'Guess Paper' Controversy

The NEET UG 2026 examination was cancelled after questions from a circulated "guess paper" allegedly matched those in the main examination conducted on May 3.

Following the controversy, the NTA decided to scrap the examination and conduct a fresh test on a separate date.

Nearly 22 lakh candidates had appeared for the exam.

Nationwide Protests Over NEET Cancellation

The cancellation triggered protests in several parts of the country, with students and opposition parties demanding accountability over allegations of paper leaks, irregularities and unfair evaluation practices.

Critics accused the authorities of failing to ensure transparency and merit in one of India's most competitive entrance examinations.

Protesters called for a re-examination, action against those responsible and reforms in the examination system to restore confidence among aspirants.

CBI Probe Ordered

Amid the growing controversy, the central government ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged malpractice linked to the examination.

The investigation is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the leak allegations and identify those involved.

NTA Announces Fresh Exam Date

Ending days of uncertainty, the National Testing Agency on Friday announced the date for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination.

The agency said the fresh examination will be held on June 21, 2026 (Sunday).

The announcement comes as lakhs of aspirants await clarity on the future of the country's premier medical entrance examination.
