YSRCP youth leader hacked to death on busy road in Andhra Pradesh
Vijayawada/IBNS: In a spine-chilling incident, a youth leader from former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSRCP has been hacked to death on a busy road in the Palnadu district on Wednesday night, media reports said.
In a video which has surfaced on social media, a man was seen attacking the victim, who has been identified as Rashid, with a machete.
The victim, who was unable to protect himself, was smeared with blood.
In the video, one of the victim's hands was seen severed from his body and lying on the road as the man continued to attack Rashid.
Reports said both his hands were severed from Rashid's body and the victim had received a deep cut on his neck.
Rashid was rushed to hospital but later he succumbed to his injuries.
The incident has drawn sharp responses from the YSRCP, which was voted out of power just a month ago.
YSRCP leader Mahesh Reddy said, "Yesterday, TDP goonda attacked YSRCP Muslim minority leader and murdered him in the Vinukonda town. This is what Jagan Mohan Reddy was cautioning the people of Andhra Pradesh in the last five years. Violence, law and order breakdown and looting have been happening in the state for the last one month."
"We are requesting the central government to intervene immediately and bring law and order under control in Andhra Pradesh," he added.
Police cited personal rivalry as the motive behind the murder.
Palnadu district police chief Kanchi Srinivasa Rao told India Today, "There aren't any links to any party in this incident. But people should take this case as an example and ensure that such kinds of violence does not happen in the state."
