Rani Mukerji returns as fearless cop Shivani Roy in Mardaani 3 – watch ‘Babbar Sherni’ song!
Mumbai/IBNS: Rani Mukerji’s highly-anticipated Mardaani 3, produced by Yash Raj Films, is set to hit cinemas on January 30.
Rani is back as the fierce, daredevil cop Shivani Shivaji Roy taking a brutal social crime in the third film of this blockbuster franchise.
As anticipation builds to see Rani reprise her role in a race against time to rescue 93 missing girls, Yash Raj Films has unveiled a new song that celebrates her power-packed presence.
Titled ‘Babbar Sherni’, the track amplifies Shivani’s commanding aura and salutes women of the society as Babbar shernis.
The song is composed, produced and arranged by Sarthak Kalyani, written by Shruti Shukla, and also features a hard-hitting rap segment by Dee MC.
Speaking about the song, Rani Mukerji said, "Babbar Sherni is a powerful sonic embodiment of the film’s soul. It captures the indomitable spirit of Mardaani itself and salutes women as Babbar shernis of our society.
"Raw, resolute and unflinching, mirroring the personality of Shivani Shivaji Roy, Babbar Sherni is a tribute to a woman’s strength and resolve to bring about change in society. Driven by an unyielding sense of justice, this song reflects her fearlessness and steely determination, celebrating all the women who refuse to back down in the face of adversity."
She added, "More than just a promotional track, it serves as an emotional and ideological extension of the character Shivani Shivaji Roy, channeling strength, courage, and quiet rage into a rallying cry that defines what it truly means to be Mardaani."
Directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra, Mardaani 3 carries forward the franchise’s commitment to socially relevant storytelling.
While the first Mardaani confronted the horrors of human trafficking and Mardaani 2 unpacked the chilling psyche of a serial rapist, the third instalment dives into yet another dark and pressing societal reality, further solidifying the franchise’s intent to bring awareness to social issues.
Mardaani remains India’s only successful female-led franchise - and the only one led by a female cop. Mardaani 3 releases in theatres worldwide on January 30, 2026.
