Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor attend 100-year celebration event of RSS in Mumbai
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Saturday began a two-day event in Mumbai to mark 100 years since its formation, with several prominent Bollywood personalities attending the opening day of the celebrations titled “100 Years of Sangh Journey: New Horizons.”
Among those present were leading actors Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor, along with filmmakers, producers and cultural figures from the film industry.
Addressing the gathering, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said the organisation works for the nation without opposing any individual or group, stressing that its focus remains on social unity and national interest rather than the pursuit of power.
Salman Khan, who was seated alongside filmmaker Subhash Ghai and lyricist and CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi, listened attentively as Bhagwat spoke. According to Mid-Day, Bhagwat also highlighted Salman Khan’s popularity and influence among young people.
“College students copy Salman Khan’s fashion. When asked why, they say they don’t know—Salman is doing it,” Bhagwat said, adding that positive values in society should become a trend, much like fashion.
Actor Ranbir Kapoor also attended the event along with filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, who is directing Kapoor in an upcoming two-part adaptation of the epic Ramayana. Videos circulating on social media showed Kapoor greeting and embracing Tiwari outside the venue.
Kapoor plays Lord Rama in the film, with the first instalment scheduled for a Diwali release this year and the second part planned for Diwali next year.
The Ramayana project is co-produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus and actor Yash, who also stars as Ravana.
The film features music by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer and an ensemble cast that includes Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Rakul Preet Singh, Sheeba Chaddha, Kunal Kapoor and Raghav Juyal.
Other celebrities spotted at the RSS event included veteran actor and BJP MP Hema Malini, actor Poonam Dhillon, director Mohit Suri, filmmakers Subhash Ghai and Om Raut, producers Mahaveer Jain and Vikram Malhotra, and Prasoon Joshi.
As part of the centenary celebrations, a film chronicling the RSS’s journey is set to release in theatres on February 19.
Titled Shatak: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ke 100 Varsh, the film is directed by Aashish Mall, produced by Vir Kapur and co-produced by Aashish Tiwari.
Earlier this week, actor Ajay Devgn unveiled the teaser of the film, congratulating the RSS on completing 100 years and highlighting its role in nation-building.
