29 Bangladeshi, Indian touts arrested from Indo-Bangla border areas for illegal entry

The infiltration from the unrest hit Bangladesh into Tripura continued and unabated despite tight security along the India-Bangladesh border, and again altogether twenty nine (29) Bangladeshi nationals and seven (07) Indian nationals including an Indian tout were apprehended from different locations of Tripura in last five days.
Earlier, on March 5th , the Border Security Force (BSF) posted in different borders of Tripura has apprehended 19 more citizens of the neighbouring Bangladesh including children, women and an Indian human trafficker (tout) from different parts of the state.
After unrest in Bangladesh, the infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued and in the last few months hundreds of Bangladesh nationals along with Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.
During the past few weeks, dozens of Bangladeshis, Rohingyas and human traffickers (Touts) were arrested from different parts of the state by security forces.
The Border Security Force (BSF) of Tripura Frontier through a press statement on Monday (March 10) said that they have enhanced vigil and intensified its domination along the international border.
Since 6th to 10th March 2025 BSF troops of Tripura Frontier in different operations apprehended twenty nine (29) Bangladeshi nationals and seven (07) Indian nationals including Indian tout from different locations of Tripura including bordering Lankamura under Airport police station, Nischintpur under Amtali police station, Harnakhola under Mohanpur police station, Agartala Railway station, Railway stations of Churaibari and Dharmanagar under district North Tripura, Sabroom under under District South Tripura and L K Para under Gomati district of Tripura.
Furthermore, BSF battalions have conducted over 9 village coordination meetings in border areas to address the concerns of the local population.
BSF said that they continue to enhance its surveillance and intelligence capabilities to ensure the safety and security of the nation.
BSF added that they have enhanced the surveillance and domination along the international border to prevent smuggling and trans border crimes along the international border.
In the first week of March 2025 BSF troops have successfully thwarted several smuggling attempts and seized significant quantities of narcotics, cattle, rice, and other contraband items worth ₹ 2.88 crore & Ganja 280.67 Kgs has also been seized.
To prevent the smuggling and other crimes along the international border and for better coordination with counterparts, BSF has conducted 61 simultaneous coordinated patrols and organized multiple border coordination meetings with BGB at various levels.
The Border Security Force remains committed not only to maintain a high level of alertness along the international border but also to contribute to the vision of a "Drug-Free Society," said the statement.
It may be recalled here that the Bangladeshi citizens after illegally entering Tripura were trying to board a train or bus to go to other states of the country in search of jobs
Later, BSF handed over them to local police stations and police registered specific cases under sections of the Passports Act, the Foreigners Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and all arrested foreigners and Indian tout were produced before local courts for further legal proceedings.
