A notorious thief arrested with stolen gold ornaments, cash

A notorious thief was arrested by Amtali police station of Agartala from Kamalpur with stolen gold ornaments and cash under his possessions.
Police sources said that on February 23rd last, one Litan Miah of Motinagar village under Amtali police station of West Tripura district lodged a complaint that one of the building construction workers had stolen away some valuable gold ornaments and cash from his house.
Based on the complaint, police started an investigation and during their investigation based on a photo of the suspected thief and tracking his mobile number, police on March 16 last managed to arrest one Litan Deb from Kamalpur area of Dhalai district.
Later, police produced him before a local court with police remand appeal and during the police remand period, based on his interrogation state police recovered a few gold ornaments and a cash amount of Rs. 70,000 from his ancestral home in Kamalpur.
Police said that the accused thief had also purchased a TV with a stolen amount and police have also seized that TV also.
Police added that accused thief Litan Deb was also involved with a few other stolen incidents and they are hopeful that soon they will be able to recover other stolen items.
