A renowned musician arrested with huge quantities of Ganja from bordering Madhupur

Tripura police along with other security forces on Sunday arrested a renowned musician of Tripura along with huge quantities of dry Cannabis (Ganja) during a raid at his house in Sitakhala village of Konaban under Madhupur police station of Sepahijala district.
Giving details of the special operation of the security forces, officer-in-charge (OC) of Madhupur police station, Debajit Chatterjee said that based on secret information, police apprehended renowned Tripura musician Paritosh Sarkar from his residence along with a large quantity of dry cannabis.
He said that on the basis of the tip-off, police personnel from Madhupur police station, accompanied by TSR forces, conducted a raid in Konaban Sitakhala area at the house of musician Paritosh Sarkar and recovered 174 kg of Ganja and took him into custody.
It is reported that musician Paritosh Sarkar had long been involved in the Ganja smuggling, which led Madhupur police to monitor him closely for a long time, waiting for the right moment to detain him red-handed. Later, the OC of Madhupur police station received secret information that dry cannabis had been stockpiled at the musician’s residence.
Following this information, on Sunday, the police and TSR forces jointly carried out the raid and achieved success. Paritosh Sarkar was brought to Madhupur Police Station along with the 174 kg of cannabis, and a case was filed against him in a special case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police added that arrested drug smuggler will be produced before a local court on Monday with police remand appeal for further interrogation and to get details of his drug smuggling network.
