Agartala city police arrested two drug smugglers with large quantities of Brown Sugar

In continuation of anti-drug operations across Agartala city, the East Agartala police got another success and seized large quantities of Brown Sugar and also arrested two drug smugglers on Saturday.
Speaking with media persons at East Agartala police station on Saturday afternoon, SDPO(Sadar) Debaprasad Roy accompanied by OC of East police station Rana Chatterjee said that based on secret information of delivery of big consignment of drugs, a police team in plain clothes start working on that information.
As per the information, police has detained a suspected auto-rickshaw at MBB College to Aralia route on Friday midnight and in the course search operation, they recovered ten pouch of Brown Sugar, worth of about Rs. 10 lakh from the possessions of two drug smugglers identified as Samar Das of Indranagar area and Sandip Kumar Sarkar of Lichubagan, who were moving in that auto-rickshaw to deliver their consignment, said Roy.
He said that a gang of drug smugglers were associated with this network and based on the preliminary interrogation, police get few more names of peddlers , who are actively involved spreading the drug network in and around the city, said SDPO and added that soon they will able to arrest other culprits involved with drug network.
While, both arrested drug smugglers were produced before a local court in a case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 with police remand appeals for further interrogation.
