Agartala smart city projects aim to provide clean drinking water to all: CM
Agartala to get better citizen services: CM
Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday said that the present state government is the government of people of all parts of the state and wants to earn the trust and confidence of the people through its work.
He said that the state government is implementing various projects to solve the problems of the people.
“The state government is working by adopting various plans to provide multiple facilities, including food, clothing, housing, drinking water, and electricity services, to the doorsteps of the people,” he said.
Dr Saha said this at the foundation stone laying ceremony of five projects at the Netaji Adarsha Shiksha Mandir premises of Ward No. 32 of Agartala Municipal Corporation today.
The Chief Minister simultaneously laid the foundation stones for the following projects: a 5.50 MLD capacity water treatment plant in Netaji Adarsh Palli, installation of a 1,000-kiloliter capacity overhead tank of drinking water in the premises of Banividyapeeth School, digging of five deep tubewells in Ward No. 32 and adjacent areas, provision of drinking water connections for 1,000 families in the Municipal Corporation area, and expansion of 12 kilometers of new drinking water pipelines.
At the event, Dr Saha said that people need ready access to drinking water every day. The state government is working to provide clean drinking water to every village and hilly areas in the state through the Jal Jeevan Mission.
“Similarly, work is underway to provide clean drinking water to every house in the Agartala Municipal Corporation area. The projects whose foundation stones were laid today by the Tripura Jal Board will cost Rs. 22.55 crore to implement. People are facing temporary difficulties while developmental work is being carried out in Agartala city. Although there are some problems in solving long-term issues, in the near future, people will get better citizen services,” he said.
Dr Saha said that the state government and the Agartala Municipal Corporation are trying to make Agartala a modern city by implementing various projects as planned.
“So far, 65 major projects have been implemented at a cost of Rs. 580 crore under the Agartala Smart City project. Every work is being done to make Agartala city clean, beautiful, and to provide good citizen services. The state government is working to provide good drinking water not only in Agartala city but also in the tribal areas of the state. Through the Nal Se Jal program, drinking water connections have been provided to about 85 percent of the houses. The state government aims to provide drinking water connections to 100 percent of the houses. Along with the development of Agartala city, work is also underway to restore historical sites from the princely period and extinct places,” he said.

Mayor and MLA of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar, Chairman of the Central Zone of Agartala Municipal Corporation Ratna Dutta, Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Manika Das Dutta, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation D.K. Chakma, Secretary of Urban Development Department Abhishek Singh, and CEO of Municipal Corporation Mihir Kanti Gope were present.
