AI-generated images, video against CM, minister, MLA sparked political controversy, FIR lodged at West Agartala PS
After distorted image of the Chief Minister, allegedly created using artificial intelligence and circulated on social media, which has sparked controversy, again on Sunday another AI based social media post by the name of a councilor of Udaipur Municipal Council against an influential minister and a local MLA have also sparked massive sensation in political circle.
While, on Saturday night taking serious note of the matter, a group of MDCs led by BJP state General Secretary Bipin Debbarma filed an FIR against a social media account named Khorang Triprasa, who has allegedly spread a distorted image of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha along with Tipra-Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma.
According to reports, the complaint was lodged over the circulation of a manipulated image of the Chief Minister that was created using AI technology and widely shared online. The complainants alleged that the image was deliberately altered to defame the Chief Minister and mislead the public.
Speaking with media persons after filing the FIR at West Agartala police station on Saturday night, BJP leader Bipin Debbarma strongly condemned such defamatory act by suspected miscreants and claimed that the Chief Minister does not belong to any political party or any community, he represents the entire state. “To defame his clean image, a section is trying to get political mileage and they are now creating fake AI images to tarnish the clean image of Chief Minister,” said Debbarma and demanded immediate police action to identify the miscreant responsible for such distorted image and its circulation in social media.
A controversy has erupted in Udaipur after a video created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology went viral on social media, making allegations against a cabinet minister. The viral video reportedly claims that a Minister and a MLA from Udaipur received a large sum of money over alleged construction of Jagannath Dighi lake with a sum of Rs. 174 crore, triggering political debate across the state.
While, on Sunday a sensation has swept through political circles in Udaipur following the circulation of a statement on social media centering on the influential Minister and MLA, Abhishek Debroy. A video and a post, purportedly attributed to Ranjit Das, the Councilor for Ward No. 11 of the Udaipur Municipal Council, have gone viral on social media, leveling multiple allegations against Minister Abhishek Debroy.
The viral statement raises questions regarding the amount of money the Minister allegedly received from the Udaipur Jagannath Dighi Development Project, which involved works worth approximately Rs 174 crore. Furthermore, it alleges that MLA Abhishek Debroy has constructed a luxurious residence in Agartala and purchased a flat outside the state at a cost of nearly Rs 100 crore.
However, when contacted regarding this matter, Ranjit Das, the Councilor for Ward No. 11 of the Udaipur Municipal Council clearly stated that the statement circulating on social media was not his. He claims that unknown individuals utilized Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to create and distribute this fake video or statement in his name. He further noted that, while he has not yet sought legal options regarding this incident, he is currently making inquiries into the matter.
On the other hand, when questioned about the issue, MLA Abhishek Debroy completely dismissed the allegations. He remarked, "This is nothing more than the activities of a madman. Nowhere in India does one require Rs 100 crore to purchase a single flat, said Debroy.
The incident has already sparked tension within Udaipur's political landscape. Questions regarding the authenticity of the statement circulating on social media have begun to surface across various quarters.
Currently, the matter is the subject of intense discussion within political circles, and all eyes remain fixed on whether this incident will take any new turns in the days to come.
