Based on the FIR by a group of MDCs led by BJP state General Secretary Bipin Debbarma after distorted image of the Chief Minister, allegedly created using artificial intelligence and circulated on social media, which has sparked controversy, the Agartala city police on Friday midnight detained a youth from Nandan Nagar and another youth from Kalacherra area of Sabroom.
But, among two detained youths, the police personnel from West Agartala police station on Saturday afternoon released a youth, Mangal Koloi .
Police sources said that a large team of police and other security personnel on Friday midnight cordoned the house of Mangal Koloi at Nandan Nagar area and brought him at the police station.
After interrogation for last 12-hours led by senior police officials, Mangal Koloi released in absence of any evidence related to distorted image of Chief Minister over circulation in social media.
While, another youth was also detained from Kalacherra area of Sabroom over the same charges of the circulation of a distorted image in social media.
Speaking with media persons, SP (West Tripura) Namit Pathak said that investigation of the case is going on and based preliminary information, they have detained two youths. He added that at the primary stage of investigation, police cannot reveal details of the case.
Meanwhile, till last report, the youth detained from Sabroom yet to be officially arrested or released by the police personnel from East Agartala police station.
It may be recalled on March 15 evening, taking serious note of the matter, a group of MDCs led by BJP state General Secretary Bipin Debbarma filed an FIR against a social media account named Khorang Triprasa, who has allegedly spread a distorted image of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha along with Tipra-Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma.
A complaint was lodged over the circulation of a manipulated image of the Chief Minister that was created using AI technology and widely shared online. The complainants alleged that the image was deliberately altered to defame the Chief Minister and mislead the public.
BJP leader Bipin Debbarma strongly condemned such defamatory act by suspected miscreants and claimed that the Chief Minister does not belong to any political party or any community, he represents the entire state. “To defame his clean image, a section is trying to get political mileage and they are now creating fake AI images to tarnish the clean image of Chief Minister,” said Debbarma and demanded immediate police action to identify the miscreant responsible for such distorted image and its circulation in social media.
