The All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), Tripura State Committee, on Saturday organized a well-attended Town Hall Meeting at the Tripura Students’ Health Home in Agartala, bringing together bank officers from various Public Sector Banks across the state to discuss key challenges facing the banking sector and reaffirm their commitment to strengthening the organization.
The meeting was attended by AIBOC Vice President and General Secretary of the Canara Bank Officers’ Association, Ravi Kumar K, as the chief guest, while AIBOC national leader Rajesh Yadav attended as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, AIBOC Tripura state secretary Sanjoy Datta strongly criticized the Central Government’s move towards the privatization of Public Sector Banks. He highlighted the significant contribution made by officers and employees of Public Sector Banks over the past 57 years in supporting farmers, small and medium entrepreneurs, workers, students, women and other sections of society, thereby strengthening the country’s economy. He also urged young bank officers to actively participate in strengthening the organization.
In his keynote address, Ravi Kumar K discussed the major challenges confronting the banking industry. He reiterated AIBOC’s demand for the implementation of a five-day banking week, opposed the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) policy, which the organization described as discriminatory, and stressed the need for adequate recruitment in Public Sector Banks. He also called upon members to build a strong public movement to safeguard Public Sector Banks and create awareness among people about the importance of bank nationalization and the role of public sector banks in the nation’s development.
The participating officers expressed their support for the organization’s future programmes and pledged to work unitedly towards achieving its objectives.
Highlighting its commitment to social responsibility, AIBOC Tripura presented a cheque of Rs 15,000 to Nilajyoti Sebashram to support its humanitarian activities. The gesture was appreciated by those present as a reflection of the organization’s commitment to the welfare of underprivileged sections of society.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by AIBOC Tripura state committee president Manoj Bhowmik, who thanked all members and volunteers for their contribution in making the event a success.
