Amit Shah to launch BGF accommodation at land port Petrapole and Agartala
In a significant stride towards enhancing border security and personnel welfare, the Union Home and Cooperation Minister, Amit Shah, is set to inaugurate two Border Guarding Force (BGF) accommodations at Land Port Petrapole and Land Port Agartala on 20th December 2024. These inaugurations will take place through a virtual ceremony, marking a historic day for the nation's border management infrastructure. An official release said.
Land Port Petrapole, India's largest land port, and Land Port Agartala, a key commercial and travel hub, both located on the India-Bangladesh border, are critical points for trade and travel. These ports are set to benefit from the addition of the new BGF accommodations, which will enhance the operational efficiency and living conditions of the border security personnel.
The facilities at both locations, approved in December 2018, reflect a combined investment of approximately INR 55 Cr and feature dedicated blocks for officers, sub-ordinate officers, jawans, and female personnel. The accommodations are designed to provide modern amenities and comfortable living quarters, ensuring the well-being of the BGF staff.
The dual inauguration event is expected to be a significant milestone, showcasing the government's vision for a secure and prosperous nation, supported by the dedicated efforts of the Land Port Authority of India (LPAI) and the BGF.
