Auto driver arrested with Yaba tablets worth Rs 1.35 crore from Bypass road

In another successful operation, Agartala city police achieved major success with seizure of Yaba tablets, worth Rs. 1.35 crore and arrested a drug peddler along with his auto-rickshaw from Agartala Bypass road.
Giving details, newly joined SP of West Tripura district, Namit Pathak speaking with media persons at Amtali police station said that on Thursday during routine checkup of vehicles at a Naka point in Bypass road, police team police chased an auto rickshaw coming from Khayerpur to Amtali and managed to detain it on Thursday night.
In the course of the search, 90,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 1.35 crore were recovered from the auto rickshaw. The driver, identified as Sudip Sutradhar was arrested for carrying the drugs. An investigation is underway, said SP Namit Pathak.
He added that police initiated an investigation to find out the sources of these huge quantities of drugs and hoped that soon they would be able to arrest smugglers involved with the transportation of contraband items.
