BJP-Motha clash at Ampinagar during victory rally, situation under control
The Ampinagar market turned into a battle field on Saturday after some unruly Tipra-Motha workers attacked in the victory procession of BJP.
Within minutes, the situation turned volatile as the police had to fire teargas shells and ultimately to fire several rounds in the air to disperse workers of Motha and BJP , when both party workers engaged in a massive clash.
Though, police and security forces brought the situation under control, but till Sunday escalating tension prevails across Ampinagar area of Gomati district.
The situation at Ampi Bazaar and the nearby areas seems to have become quite bad as it turned into a battlefield where a large number of cars of workers and supporters of BJP were vandalized who came to take part in the victory rally on Saturday. A total of 12 BJP workers and supporters were hospitalized.
As per the previous schedule ,the victory rally was organized by BJP, but the followers of ‘Bubagra’ warned everyone not to take part in the victory rally as alleged by the Ampinagar BJP Mandal President, Shibnath Jamatia.
Shibnath Jamatia added that the followers of Bubagra started to gather in the Tipra Motha party office of Haripur on Saturday. It was in the afternoon that the vehicles of BJP supporters were attacked by the followers of Bubagra in front of the Haripur Tipra Motha Party office when they were moving to Ampinagar from Toidu through Teliamura-Ampinagar road. There were many BJP workers and Supporters who were injured badly and then they were taken to the Ampinagar Hospital for treatment.
However the followers of Bubagra did not stop there and came to the hospital after an ambulance was vandalized and then they started throwing small pieces of bricks as well. The police officials then went to the spot and brought the situation under control after the hospital authority locked the collapsible gate of the hospital.
The Tipra Motha workers did not stop there and then they attacked the Syndicate office along with some shops. The BJP workers then went to the spot at Motorstand and then they had a face off where bottles, pieces of bricks and various other stuff were used and this place turned into a battlefield. The SDPO Uttam Banik went to the spot with CRPF, TSR jawans but could not bring the situation under control. Some of the police officials were injured but the BJP workers were stopped by the officials while the followers of Bubagra continues their arsoning and they tried to attack the security personnel. Then, police burst 7 cells of tear gas and fired in blank to disperse Motha workers.
The situation at Ampinagar and Toidu turned bad as all the shops were shut while vehicles were not moving through the road and section 144 has also been imposed in this place and security has been tightened as well.
