BSF apprehends 5 smugglers, rescued 12 cattle heads

BSF troops posted Border Outpost (BOP) Dholakcheri under South Tripura district apprehended five cattle smuggler and rescued 12 cattle heads from their possession on Saturday. Apprehended cattle smugglers are resident of South Tripura and Gomati district. In a separate operation on specific information, BSF troops of BOP Nirbhoypur under West Tripura district seized 47 new mobiles phones worth Rs 10 lakh while the consignment was being thrown by miscreants over the border fence for smuggling to Bangladesh.
In a joint operation with Police, BSF troops of BOP Karmatila under South Tripura district carried out a house search in village Karmatila and recovered foreign manufactured cigarettes, consumer and clothing items worth Rs 10 lakh. Recently BSF has intensified operation to prevent trans border smuggling.
