BSF destroys large quantities of Ganja plantation, detained 3 more Bangladeshi

Based on specific information about plantation of Ganja (Cannabis) in the depth area of Border Out Post (BOP) Salpokar, a joint operation was launched by BSF with police personnel from Jatrapur police station and forest department in village Neuramura South Taiban under Sepahijala district on Monday.

BSF sources said that approximately 50,000 ganja plants cultivated on half hectare (approx) of land were destroyed by cutting and uprooting. Suitable legal action is being taken by the concerned department against the land owner.  BSF is committed to wipe out the menace of Ganja and narcotics in Tripura.

In another operation, three Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended by a BSF in the area of BOP Paharmura  in Khowai district, while they were trying to cross the Indo Bangladesh Border Fence (IBBF) and exfiltrate from the Indian side towards  Bangladesh. BSF has stepped up the surveillance and operations along the border in Tripura to foil the attempts of infiltrators and criminals.
