BSF jawan died in accidental fire at Kanchanpur
In a tragic incident, one BSF jawan posted at Kanchanpur area of North Tripura district for poll duties has died in an accidental fire after the safety trigger of his service rifle opened in a moving bus.
Sources said that deceased jawan was identified as Raksanargis Keshav (27) of Maharashtra state, posted at 199th battalion of BSF in Panisagar and recently, the deceased jawan along with a company of the battalion posted at Kanchanpur subdivision for poll related duties, where election for the East Tripura parliamentary constituency to be held on in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 26.
Sources added that when on Wednesday night, a bus with jawans of BSF moving in the areas near the Kanchanpur petrol pump, all of sudden, the bus stopped in the middle of the road after hearing a heavy sound of fire shot.
Later, other jawans boarded in the bus noticed, one bullet from the service rifle of BSF jawan Raksanargis Keshav stroked in the middle of his head and died on the spot.
Police sources said that primary investigation revealed that the deceased jawan died on the spot after an accidental fire from his service INSUS rifle as its safety trigger struck.
On Thursday morning a team of doctors from Kanchanpur hospital performed an autopsy and BSF authorities took the initiative to shift the body to his ancestral village.
