CBC holds awareness program on Swachhta, Mission LiFE, fight against menace of Drugs
A special awareness programme on cleanliness, afforestation cum Mission LiFE and Fighting against menace of Drugs was organized by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting today at Durgabari Tea Estate under Laxmilunga Gram Panchayat in Bamutia RD block under West Tripura district.
In the program various activities were carried out around the three social development themes of "Swachhta Abhiyan," "Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam," "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" so as to raise awareness to protect the environment, keep the surroundings clean and green and also to save life from the menace of drugs.
On this occasion, saplings of different species of trees were planted in the office premises of the tea estate. The former MLA Krishnadhan Das, Prajapita Brahma Kumari sisters and officers and staff of CBC planted saplings. The event was appropriately organised to encourage local residents to protect the environment and biodiversity. A cleanliness drive was also carried out in the area with a call to protect the environment and one's health by keeping the environment clean and green.
On the occasion, Krishnadhan Das, former MLA graced the main function held at the Birsa Munda Community Hall of Durgabari Tea Estate in the presence of common people. Addressing the gathering, Shri Das said that under the clarion call and stewardship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Swachhata Abhiyan has become a practice for every household across the country and has become a mass movement in the country. With regular cleanliness drives, the incidence of diseases such as typhoid, diarrhoea has almost gone away. This has ensured the health and safety of families in rural areas. He also explained about the significance of planting trees in the name of one's mother and how its deeper meaning today has moved common people. Shubhasis Chanda, Deputy Director of CBC Agartala, in his address, spoke about the impact of Swachhata Abhiyan having quoted various studies on how the cleanliness drive has resulted in positive outcome in the health and economy of rural households in the country. Shri Sujit Pal, Welfare Supervisor of the block, Haradhan Das, from the Cooperation department also spoke on the occasion. Amongst others, Shri Kunal Shinde, Assistant Director, Doordarshan Kendra, H.K. Chang, Field Publicity Officer, CBC, Ashish Adhikari, Manager, Durgabari Tea Estate Cooperative Society were present in the program.
The speakers also discussed the harmful effects of drugs on the health and economic well-being of individuals and families. The menace of drugs has called for a bigger move and efforts to fight against drugs and promote a drug-free society. As part of the program, open quiz competition was organized in which the residents of the area took part. The winners were also given prizes.
