City police arrested two thieves, recovered stolen gold ornaments
Within 48-hours of a stolen incident in the thickly populated Dhaleshwar area, the East Agartala police on Saturday arrested two thieves involved with the incident and recovered all stolen gold ornaments under their possession.
Speaking with media persons at East Agartala police station on Saturday afternoon, SDPO(Sadar) Debaprasad Roy accompanied by OC, Rana Chatterjee said that on August 14, when one Sudip Ghosh of Dhaleshwar Road number-2 went for holiday, a group of the thieves raided at his house in the night and looted away some valuable gold ornaments and a mobile phone.
When they returned back to their house on August 16, they noticed the incident and informed the matter to police, said Roy and added that the OC of East Agartala police station Rana Chatterjee immediately formed an investigation team to arrest accused thieves.
With inputs of intelligence, on Saturday police managed to arrest two accused thieves from the Motor Stand area and have also recovered all stolen gold ornaments and a mobile phone under their possessions.
SDPO said that arrested thieves were identified as Sagar Debnath of Durga Chowmuhani area and Raju Chakma of Pecharthal area of North Tripura district, who were produced before a local court on Saturday with police remand appeals for further interrogation.
