City police busted thief gang, 7 with a woman arrested with stolen gold, cash
In a successful operation, the Agartala city police on Sunday busted a big gang of thieves and arrested seven members of the gang including a woman with recovery of stolen gold jewelleries and cash amount.
Giving details, SDPO(Sadar) Debaprasad Roy said that one Surajit Chakraborty of Ramnagar road number-4, near Vani Vidyapith school on April 3rd night lodged a complaint at West Agartala police station that when they went to attend a social programme on the evening and when in the night at about 10 PM, they returned back to their home and found main gates were broken.
Immediately, they rushed to the rooms and found lockers of Almirahs were broken and suspected thieves looted all gold jewelleries along with a cash amount of Rs. 30,000.
In the same night, Surajit Chakraborty lodged a complaint and based on his complaint, the West Agartala police station formed an investigation team led by OC Rana Chatterjee, said SDPO and added that on Saturday police team detained suspected thieves. Based on their interrogation statements, police team managed bust the gang of the thieves and arrested five more members of the gang along with a woman member, identified as Sanjoy Das, Jaan Miah, Kumar Chakraborty, Chiranjit Sarkar, Alamgir Miah, Barman Tripura and Manika Das, who are hails from different parts of the state.
Police also recovered all stolen gold items and cash under their possessions.
Police also said that all arrested thieves were produced before a local court on Sunday with three-days police remand appeals for interrogation and to get details of the gang network, where they were involved in many stolen cases held in and around the city.
