City police recovered large quantities of Brown Sugar, arrested a smuggler
In a successful operation, Agartala city police has seized large quantities of Brown Sugar and has also arrested a drug smuggler.
Speaking with media persons at West Agartala police station on Thursday afternoon, SDPO (Sadar) Debaprasad Roy said that based on secret information, a joint contingent of police personnel from West Agartala police station and Ramnagar outpost laid a trap in plain clothes at Barjala area near TRTC complex to detain drug smugglers during delivery of their consignment.
On Wednesday night, when drug smugglers supposedly delivered their consignment to another team of smugglers, police managed to arrest a drug smuggler, identified as Rajib Datta of Natun Colony area of Kamalasagar under Sepahijala district.
In the course of the search operation, police team recovered 9 packets of Brown Sugar with a total weight of 100 grams, worth Rs. 8 lakh under his possession.
SDPO said that on Thursday arrested drug smuggler was produced before a local police remand appeal under a specific case Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985,. He said that arrested smuggler will interrogate during the police remand period to get details of their drug network.
