CM hails Jishnu Dev Varma's appointment as Telangana Governor

Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Monday said that the appointment of former Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma as the Governor of Telangana has scripted a history for Tripura and the next generation will always feel proud of this achievement.

While addressing a Civic Reception Ceremony for Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Amtali, organized by the Suryamaninagar Mandal, Dr. Saha said that this milestone has scripted a new chapter in Tripura's history.

“This is indeed a joyful day for us. A few days ago, I went to Delhi to attend a meeting of NITI Aayog and the Chief Ministers' Conclave. After the NITI Aayog meeting, I received the news that our beloved Jishnu Dev Varma had been appointed as the Governor of Telangana by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was also delighted. This step has indeed created history in Tripura. He is a member of the royal family and my childhood friend,” said Dr. Saha.

Dr. Saha mentioned that when he actively joined politics and became Chief Minister for the first time, Jishnu Dev Varma was serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura.

“We had excellent coordination. He fulfilled all his responsibilities beautifully, working for both the Jaati and Janajati. It is a matter of pride for us that Jishnu Dev Varma, from such a small state, has become the Governor of Telangana. We never imagined this. This is a new chapter in Tripura's history, which the next generation will be proud of. We are very happy. He is a politician, writer, poet, and also engaged with music, and above all, a good human being. I am confident that, just as he worked for the people of Tripura, he will do the same for Telangana,” he added.

Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Ramprasad Paul, was also present during the program.
