CM urges collective action against drug menace

Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday emphasized that the present state government is dedicated to advancing Tripura and called on everyone to join the fight against drug abuse.

“The current state government is committed to taking Tripura forward. The bond of unity and harmony among the people of different communities, including various tribes and nations, must be strengthened. Furthermore, people from all walks of life should step forward to make Tripura a drug-free state, to protect our students and youth from the menace of drugs,” said Dr. Saha.

Dr Saha said this while participating in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programme organized at Umakanta English Medium School by the Education Department on Tuesday.

Inaugurating the event, the Chief Minister recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called for the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ program ahead of Independence Day on August 15, 2022.

“In response to his call, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ program was held across all states in the country, and Tripura too actively participated in this initiative. One of the key objectives of the Har Ghar Tiranga program is to honor and pay homage to those who sacrificed their lives for the country's independence, as we often forget the struggles that led to our freedom. This August 15th marks the 78th Independence Day of our nation. This morning, a colorful procession with the national flag was also held in the city, starting from Umakanta Ground,” Dr.Saha remarked.

He further added that similar programs have been organized at various district and sub-divisional levels.

The Chief Minister highlighted that, in celebration of Independence Day, events such as fairs, bike rallies, and ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programs are being conducted across different locations with innovative approaches.

“Through these activities, we deepen our understanding of the true meaning of freedom. While we have been celebrating Independence Day since 1947, since 2022, we have begun commemorating this day in a renewed spirit. The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ program has reached from Anganwadi centers to schools and colleges. Considering the nearly 9 lakh families in the state, arrangements have been made to ensure the availability of national flags,” he said.

 “The current government of Tripura is committed to taking the state forward, and efforts to improve Tripura will continue through the Independence Day celebrations. Everyone should come together to strengthen the bond of unity and harmony among the people of different communities and nations,” the Chief Minister concluded.

Education Department Director N.C. Sharma and other officials were present as distinguished guests on the occasion.
