Collaborative workshop to review Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDP) 2025 by NLU
The National Law University (NLU) Tripura in partnership with Rural Development, Panchayat Department of Tripura, hosted a state level workshop to review the Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDP) 2025 on Thursday.
The event, held at the State Panchayat Resource Centre, A.D. Nagar, aimed to strengthen decentralized governance through collaboration and innovative solutions. The workshop engaged over 490 Secretaries from Gram Panchayats and Village Committees across West Tripura, Gomati, and Sepahijala districts. Esteemed resource persons included Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, Vice-Chancellor of NLU Tripura, and Mr. Prasun De, Director of the RD Panchayat Department, Prof. Nachiketa Mittal, Registrar, NLUT alongside mentors and faculty experts from Panchayat and NLUT.
Key activities included reviewing GPDPs, addressing challenges, and exploring strategies aligned with Local Sustainable Development Goals. Constructive feedback and actionable recommendations were shared to refine the developmental plans. This platform also enabled Panchayat and Village Committee Secretaries to voice their queries and concerns directly to the authorities, fostering an environment of transparency and collaboration, said NLU through a press statement.
Mr. Prasun De highlighted aspirations to position Tripura as a leader in Panchayat empowerment, while Prof. Yogesh reaffirmed NLUT’s commitment to impactful community initiatives. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Registrar of NLUT, Prof. Nachiketa Mittal inspiring stakeholders to continue advancing rural development collaboratively. This workshop reflects the shared vision of academia and governance, driving transformative change for Tripura's Panchayats.
