The welcome address was delivered by the Honorable President of the Pradesh Congress, Shri Ashish Kumar Saha.
In this seminar, Professor Chandrika Basu Majumdar, while giving a speech about the Constitution, discussed in detail the contribution of Dr. BR Ambedkar, the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, and the contribution of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, in the writing of the Constitution of this country.
She said that ‘although we Indians are aware of our fundamental rights, we forget about our fundamental duties towards the country.’
She said that both the government and the opposition parties work for the welfare of the people of the country, but there is a conflict between the two. Speaking on this subject, she said that when Jawaharlal Nehru was the Prime Minister of the country, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was in the opposition, stood up in the Parliament and gave a strong speech against the Prime Minister. That night, at dinner, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru called and praised Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s speech. “This is the democracy of our country, this is the tradition of our country and this tradition should not be forgotten,” Prof Basu Majumder.
She said that those who wrote the constitution of the country at that time were so liberal and had a broad-minded leadership that they wrote the largest and last best constitution in the world at that time. She also discussed in detail about the importance of the constitution, the relevance of the constitution, and the preamble of the constitution in today's seminar.
While addressing the meeting, the Secretary of AICC, Christopher Tilak said that the brainchild of writing the constitution of our country is the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. But when the constitution was written and when the constitution was adopted, he was not alive, but this constitution of India was Gandhiji's dream. He said that RSS killed Gandhi ji but could never kill Gandhi ji's thoughts, that is why even today, RSS and BJP are constantly trying to change the constitution.
“Every 50 to 100 kilometers in the country, there are cultural differences, language differences, differences in customs, differences in food, but even then the constitution of our country has given us the feeling that we are one, we are Indians,” said Tilak.
