CPI (M) MLA Ashok Mitra attacked, condemns
CPI(M) MLA of Hrishyamukh assembly constituency on Saturday morning allegedly attacked by a group of miscreants, when he went to visit the Naluaya school and hospital under the same assembly constituency.
After miscreants attacked the MLA Ashok Chandra Mitra, his personal security guards resisted them and in association with some local villagers, MLA escaped from the incident unhurt.
Opposition CPI(M) state secretary and MLA Jitendra Chaudhury through a press statement alleged that such kind of incident is totally undemocratic and elected MLA has been obstructed by the supporters of ruling BJP, when they tried to visit their own constituency areas.
He said that every MLA has their legitimate rights to visit and enquire about the condition of the people in their own constituency, but miscreants owing allegiance to the ruling BJP often attack them. He said that miscreants tried to physically attack Mitra, but his security guards protected him. Chaudhury urged the state government to ensure proper security for all opposition MLA.
Condemning the incident, Chaudhury demanded that all miscreants responsible for the attack on Ashok Mitra should be arrested at the earliest.
