Eight Bangladeshi including 7 women arrested from Agartala railway station
Based on secret information, the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Saturday arrested eight Bangladesh nationals and an Indian tout including seven women from Agartala railway station just few minutes before their boarding to Kanchenjunga express towards Kolkata.
Giving details officer-in-charge (OC) of GRP, Tapash Das said that police have specific information that a group of Bangladeshi after crossing India-Bangladesh border illegally will travel to other parts of the country via Agartala railway station.
Based on the information, the GRP along with RPF since Saturday early morning laid traps inside Agartala station and as scheduled the Kanchenjunga express will depart from Agartala at 8 AM and just few minutes before the departure, a group of women with two men suspiciously moving in the platform and trying to board in the express train, said Das.
He added that then GRP detained them and during interrogation, they revealed they crossed the Indo-Bangla border with the help of agents and were trying to go Mumbai and Pune for work purposes.
OC Tapash Das said that among the arrested Bangladeshi, seven are women from different districts of Bangladesh, one Bangladeshi man and another one is Indian tout, identified as Sentu Kumar Deb.
He said that all were arrested under the Foreigner Act and they will produce before a local court with police remand appeals for interrogation.
