Fake TTE detained at Manu railway station in North Tripura
A fake Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) was detained by Railway passengers from Manu railway station under North Tripura district, who was later handed over to police.
Police sources said that a fake TTE identified him as Hossain Ali, a resident of Kailashahar in Unakoti district.
However, Ali claimed to have been duped by an online group into believing that he had been hired for the job of a TTE. “They (members of the online group) messaged me on Instagram about providing a central government job.” He thought it’s a central government job and he could earn a good amount of money.
Arrested fake TTE also said that they gave him a link to fill the application form. Later, they informed him that he had been selected and sent him a uniform, a diary, and an ID card, he told the police.
Ali added that he had been asked to collect Rs 150 and Rs 200 as fines from long-distance passengers travelling on trains without tickets.
OC of the Churabari police station said that Ali had been handed over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Dharmanagar in North Tripura district and no case has been lodged with the Tripura police so far.
