Farmers across Tripura will now be able to access veterinary healthcare services through the toll-free helpline number 1962 following the launch of the ‘Bharat Sanjeevani 1962 Mobile Veterinary Service’ by the Animal Resource Development Department.
The service was launched on Thursday during a state-level workshop, Pashu Sakhi kit distribution programme, and unveiling of the department’s new logo held at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala. Animal Resource Development Minister Sudhangshu Das attended the programme as the chief guest, while senior departmental official Neeraj Kumar Chanchal and other officials were present as special guests.
During the programme, discussions were held on various aspects of animal husbandry and livestock development. Kits were also distributed among Pashu Sakhis working at the grassroots level.
The newly launched Bharat Sanjeevani 1962 Mobile Veterinary Service has been introduced under the Government of India’s “Establishment and Strengthening of Veterinary Hospitals and Dispensaries – Mobile Veterinary Unit” project. The initiative is being implemented by the Tripura Animal Resource Development Department in collaboration with Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited and IndusInd Bank.
The service aims to ensure easy and timely access to veterinary healthcare for livestock farmers, especially those residing in rural and remote areas of the state.
Under the initiative, farmers can seek veterinary assistance by calling the toll-free helpline number 1962. Mobile veterinary units functioning under the coordination of the Animal Resource Development Department will provide doorstep treatment for seriously ill large animals.
Apart from emergency veterinary care, farmers will also receive tele-consultation support through designated emergency response centres on animal health management, treatment guidance, vaccination, and deworming services.
