Ganja worth of Rs. 4 Cr seized from Churaibari Naka point, 2 arrested

Tripura police get another major success in the anti-narcotics operation and managed to seized huge quantities of dry Cannabis (Ganja) , worth of Rs. 4 crore , when they seized a truck loaded with electric transformer at Churaibari Naka point under North Tripura district on Monday.
Police sources said that , based on a tip-off, police intercepted a truck with registration number UP-5-AT-1128 and during a search in the truck, police recovered large quantities of dry Ganja and also arrested two drug peddlers.
During regular checking of vehicles at Churaibari Naka point, police detained that suspected truck and seeing the positions of all loaded electric transformers, police opened all transformers and found a total of 96 packets inside electric transformers with total weight of 960 kilograms.The estimated market value of the seized marijuana is approximately four crores of Bangladeshi taka.
Two drug peddlers identified as truck driver Abdesh Kumar Sachan (42) and cor-driver Pramode Kumar (59) of Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
Police added that arrested drug peddlers during preliminary interrogation revealed that they loaded dry Ganja from Agartala Bypass road and were proceeding towards their native state.
Police also recovered a fake delivery document of the electric transformers under their possessions, which was used to avoid suspicion.
The arrested drug peddlers were produced before a local court under a specific case registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985.
