GM of NFR conducts intensive operational safety inspection in Tripura

Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), with other senior officials, carried out a two-day inspection of key railway installations and operational facilities in Tripura under the Lumding Division, starting from 18th June 2025. The inspection commenced at Dharmanagar railway station. Following this, a window trailing inspection was conducted from Dharmanagar to Agartala station. This method, which involves close observation of track and infrastructure from a moving train, is crucial for detecting defects in track geometry, ballast condition and other safety-critical components, particularly relevant towards track safety in train operations, as regions like Tripura experience heavy rainfall with unstable terrain.
On 19th June, the General Manager inspected the Agartala Coaching Depot, which plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness, maintenance and operational readiness of passenger coaches in the region. A thorough review was conducted to assess maintenance practices, safety compliance and the facility’s capacity to meet increasing traffic demands. On the occasion, the General Manager also inaugurated a newly established Electronic Laboratoryat Agartala coaching depot. He also visited the staff running room at Agartala, a vital resting facility for train operating crew. The inspection focused on living conditions, hygiene standards and amenities provided, all of which are essential for ensuring crew alertness and safe train operations.
Throughout the inspection, the General Manager interacted with railway staff and supervisors, reviewing safety protocols and stressed the importance of maintaining high standards in infrastructure, passenger comfort and punctuality. He instructed officials to remain vigilant and proactive, especially in view of the ongoing monsoon season.
This inspection highlights NFR’s ongoing efforts towards enhancing service quality and safety across remote and strategically important areas of the Northeast. With a focus on infrastructure health, crew welfare and operational readiness, the visit reflects the zone’s commitment towards delivering reliable and efficient railway services in entire state of Tripura.
