Governor visits waste management, water sewerage system of Agartala

Tripura Governor, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu on Monday visited the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) located in the IT building at Indranagar in Agartala.
During the visit the Governor inspected the functioning of the drainage system, operated through ICCC in Agartala. After observing the system, the Governor said that the sewerage system of Agartala Municipal Corporation is highly developed and regarded one of the best among the systems adopted by other municipal corporations in the country.
He, however, observed that the drainage system needs to be modernized. In this regard he advised to seek expertise support from Agartala NIT. He also visited the Water Pump House at Banamalipur Agartala, which is the most affected area of the city particularly in the rainy season.
The officials of the ICCC have apprised the Governor of the sewage system of Agartala through the PowerPoint presentation. He also inspected the combined control system online. The Governor also had an online watch in the ICCC over the traffic movement in different areas of the city through police CCTV cameras deployed in different areas of the city.
Earlier in the morning, Governor Nallu visited the Waste Processing Site at Debendra Chandra Nagar in Agartala. During the visit to the center under the control of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), the Governor said that in the line of mandate of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ to create assets and wealth from waste collected and processed from the garbage materials in urban areas, such waste processing centres are being set up under the Central Government's project. The Initiative of Waste processing Centre at Debendrachandra Nagar has been adopted with the similar objective. He also said that the organic fertilizers to be produced at this centre from the waste materials would fulfill the demands of farmers.
Officials said that around 150 metric tons of waste are collected from the city every day and brought to this processing center. And after processing of the collected waste materials, around 7/8 metric tons of organic fertilizer are being produced every day. Mr Naman Singh, incharge official of the farm, entrusted with processing the waste in the centre said this. During this visit, the Governor was accompanied by secretary UK Chakma, Agartala Municipal Corporation’s Municipal Commissioner Dr Shailesh Yadav.
