IG-BSF visits Tripura University, interacts with students
Inspector General (IG) of Border Security Force (BSF), Tripura Frontier, Aloke Kumar Chakraborty, visited Tripura Central University on Thursday to deliver a special lecture on “Awareness Development about BSF and Career Counseling for Joining Uniformed Services.” The programme was organized as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of BSF Raising Day, with several events planned by the Tripura Frontier.
Upon his arrival, IG Chakraborty was warmly received and felicitated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Shyamal Das and Registrar Dr. Deepak Sharma.
Addressing nearly 700 students and faculty members at the Bir Bikram Central Auditorium, the IG highlighted the genesis and evolution of the Border Security Force, its role in safeguarding national security, and its contributions to the development of border regions. He also spoke about the BSF’s involvement in historic and critical operations, including the 1971 Indo-Pak War—also known as the Liberation War of Bangladesh—Kargil conflict, Operation Sindoor, counter-insurgency operations, anti-militancy and anti-Naxal missions, as well as its roles during major national events such as the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Kumbh Mela, and disaster relief efforts.
He further explained the opportunities, benefits and pride associated with serving in uniformed forces. The IG also provided guidance on various entry levels, recruitment procedures, testing agencies, preparation strategies for entrance examinations and the nature of training in the BSF and other forces.
The lecture was followed by a lively interactive session where students asked questions and clarified their doubts.
The session received overwhelming appreciation from students across different streams as well as the university faculty, who found it highly inspiring and informative.
