IMD issued warnings for heavy to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm up to May 26

Just a few days before the onset of Monsoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday forecast more downpours across Tripura over the next seven days and issued orange and yellow warnings.
The major parts of Tripura have been receiving heavy rainfall since the past few days and the IMD’s fresh warning for heavy rainfall from May 22 to 26 with “Orange” and Yellow” warnings, has also issued advisory for people of the state.
The IMD’s Agartala station to an official press-note said that the conditions are likely to become favourable for advance of Southwest Monsoon over some parts of South Arabian sea, parts of South and Central Bay of Bengal, North Bay of Bengal and some parts of North Eastern state during next 3 to 4 days.
The Southwest Monsoon is likely to make an early arrival in Kerala within the next four to five days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday, potentially marking one of the earliest onsets over mainland India in over a decade.
The IMD had earlier forecast the Monsoon’s arrival in Kerala around May 27—well ahead of the usual onset date of June 1.
If the Monsoon enters Kerala as expected, it would be the earliest onset since 2009, when the season began on May 23, according to IMD records.
On average, the Southwest monsoon reaches Kerala by June 1 and sweeps across the entire country by July 8. It begins to withdraw from northwest India around September 17 and fully retreats by October 15.
While, IMD’s Agartala station on Wednesday said that on May 22, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at few places with isolated very heavy rainfall at one or two places over North and Unakoti districts of Tripura and issued an ‘Orange’ warning.
Similarly, IMD issued a warning for heavy rainfall for North and Unakoti districts on May 23 and forecast light to moderate rain with thunderstorms will occur in many parts of all districts of Tripura and continued its ‘Yellow’ warning for all districts of Tripura till May 26th next.
Reports said vehicular movement on the national highway was disrupted due to heavy rainfall on Wednesday in Baramura and Atharamura hill ranges.
Agartala on Wednesday recorded maximum temperature at 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature recorded at 24.8 degrees Celsius, which is at least one degree less than normal temperature level at this time of the year.
