In a dramatic action, Tamil Nadu police arrested two thieves from Tripura, flown to Chennai
In a dramatic operation, Tamil Nadu police in association with Tripura police have arrested two thieves from Aralia area of Charilam under Sepahijala district allegedly involved in a major theft incident committed at Chennai earlier this month.
Police sources said that arrested thieves were identified as Liton Miah and Zakir Hossain alias Biton Miah of Aralia village of Charilam of Bishalgarh Sub-division of Tripura’s Sepahijala District and flown to Chennai by Tamil Nadu Police on Monday afternoon.
Police sources added that both arrested youths during their stay in Chennai had allegedly stolen gold ornaments worth over Rs 4 lakh from a house on April 7, who were arrived at Chennai city for work.
A case was promptly registered with the Thairovanmayur police station in Chennai by the affected family, prompting an investigation by the local police.
During investigation with scientific evidence, the Tamil Nadu police traced the accused to their hometown in Tripura and with the assistance of the Bishalgarh police station, the team successfully arrested Liton and Biton from their residences on Monday.
They were taken to the Bishalgarh police station for initial legal formalities before being escorted to Agartala Airport and flown to Chennai under police custody.
The arrest sparked emotional scenes at the Bishalgarh police station, where the family members of the accused broke down in tears upon learning about the development.
The relatives of both arrested youths claimed that they don’t know anything about their involvement in the stolen case, but confessed that youth youths had recently visited Chennai for job purposes and had also returned to their village.
