International cow smuggling network busted, two arrested 

Tripura police on Tuesday busted an international cow smuggling gang involved with smuggling cows after lifting them and arrested two smugglers along with a Bolero pick van and a stolen cow head.

Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bishalgarh police station Rana Chaterjee said that a few days ago they had arrested three cow smugglers actively involved with their counterparts in Bangladesh and rampantly continued their smuggling in the bordering areas of Sepahijala district.

Based on the interrogation statements that arrested three cow smugglers, police on Tuesday managed to arrest two smugglers, identified as Atayur Rahman alias Joy and Kasim Miah alias Rakesh and had also recovered a Bolero pick van from their hideouts, which was used for transportation of cow heads.

Chatterjee added that after preliminary interrogation, police have also recovered a stolen cow head from their hideouts.

He said that an international gang active in neighbouring Bangladesh associated with all arrested cow smugglers of Tripura, who were mainly residents of bordering villages and after stealing cows from different parts of the state, they smuggled stolen cow heads through Sepahijala border.

While, on Tuesday two arrested cow smugglers were produced before a local court with police remands appeals for interrogation to unearth their total nexus of cow smuggling.
