Amidst intensified political activities have in Tripura ahead of the upcoming Village Committee (VC) elections of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, , the CPI(M) state secretary, Jitendra Chaudhury has given an important reaction regarding the upcoming ADC elections.
Speaking with media persons Tuesday, Chaudhury said that the CPI(ML) has decided to contest the ADC elections alongside the Left Front. His remarks also highlighted the importance being attached to coordination and joint efforts among Left parties in the upcoming elections.
At the same time, the CPI(M) state secretary made it clear that no discussion has so far taken place regarding any electoral understanding with the Congress. According to him, there has been no discussion within the Left Front over seat-sharing or an alliance with the Congress for the ADC elections.
He also questioned the Congress’s political strength in the tribal areas. According to the CPI(M) state secretary, the Congress does not have a strong organizational base in the hills.
Therefore, he indicated that the Left Front does not see any particular need to formulate a political arrangement centred around the Congress for the ADC polls.
Ahead of the ADC elections, the Left Front is expected to focus on various issues concerning the people of the tribal areas, including their rights, problems and development. At the same time, efforts are being made to build a stronger electoral position through greater unity and coordination among Left parties.
