Lady drug smuggler arrested with Ganja in Sonamura

Tripura police in its massive drive against drug smuggling, in different parts of the state, on Tuesday have arrested one more lady smuggler with dry cannabis (Ganja) from her house in Motinagar village under Sonamura police station of Sepahijala district.

Giving details, OC of Sonamura police station, Tapash Das said that based on the secret information over active involvement of drug smuggling in bordering Motinagar area, police are looking for a couple, who are the kingpins for drug network in bordering Sonamura subdivision.

Based on the information, police on Monday midnight raided their house in Motinagar village, but sensing police raid, main accused Suman Miah escaped from the spot and in the course of search operation, police recovered large quantities of dry Ganja from his house.

Das added that police have arrested his wife, Poppy Akhtar (2-3), who is also a kingpin in a drug smuggling network.

OC also said that the arrested woman was produced before a local court on Tuesday in a specific case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985 with police remand appeal for further interrogation.
